Wondering what practices will be like? Each practice is a bit different, but here are a couple of resources for you to learn a bit more about the drills and activities that will be part of most practices. Both our beginner/recreational and our competitive wrestlers do similar activities, although of course the moves that they practice after the drills will vary based on the practice level, seasons timing, and what the coach decides to focus on during that practice.
Here is a link to videos explaining each of the drills that are part of the USA Wrestling recommended curriculum: https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Wrestling/Coaches-Core-Curriculum/2014/05/22/Forward-Rolls?channel=lub24wbjrhaBexob5gIp3v_Udl_zcpBP&fbclid=IwAR3Si_BWz-kVyDZJP7pZe7VQ0q3AlyDR2gxhJw9j0m20q2ePQHLFFyKw32o
This is a 2:20 second informal video of actual little kids practicing. It has a lot of overlap with the drills that are common at our practices – stance, bear crawl, duck walks, hands in the box, neck bridges, wheel barrels, rolls, run with double, piggy back ride, sumo wrestling, and–of course, everyone’s favorite–dodge ball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxX_cl-xMTE
